The China Africa Development Fund CADfund was founded in 2007 in order to provide support to Chinese companies operating in Africa. The fund was founded with $ 1 billion of seed funding from the China Development Bank in 2007. The Fund makes investments based on market principles and aims to achieve Return on Investment ( ROI ) in double figures. The Fund makes equity investments taking anywhere from 10-51 % of the target company; as well as quasi-equity such as preferred shares, subordinated debt and convertible bonds; CADfund also invests in other funds and offers investment management advice. The fund is focused on agriculture, manufacturing, infrastructure and natural resources. To date the Fund has invested $800 million in 30 projects.
